Becca Visits!

My niece, Becca, had a humanitarian trip to Mexico for a week. I'm not sure all of the details about how it was organized, but she didn't know anyone going on it, but she had heard of it and wanted to be part of it. The group was meeting in Chula Vista (about 30 minutes from us), so she asked if she could fly to San Diego and stay with us overnight and then have us drive her down to the meeting point the next day. Yep, of course!

Unfortunately, she missed her flight down, so she had to find a ride with a mom and her son that were driving down the next day. It was a bit of a fiasco, but she made it down here. We picked her up in Mira Mesa, and she came to our ward activity with us and hung out with Branden that night after he got home from work.

The next morning, Branden was working, so Devin and I took her to the beach to walk around. We joked that this was life in San Diego - always chilling, going to the beach, just living it up all the time haha. Then we drove her to meet up with her group. We helped her get her pick up order at the Walmart, made sure she met some people at the group and would be all set. She was nervous for sure and joked about just staying with us for the week. But she was brave, and we reassured her she would be okay and have fun. Funny enough, one of the young men in our ward and his cousin were going on the same trip.

A week later, she returned. Branden was able to pick her up this time. She had a great time and a great experience. Super cool she could have that experience to be independent and do something on her own. Branden took Becca out surfing for a while that afternoon, and we took her to Handel's before she flew home. It was so fun to have some one-on-one time with her and spoil her a little while she was with us.
